The history of many areas of South Carolina includes the fact that the advancement of the railroad played a major role in creating some of today’s towns and communities. There is a small and beautiful town called Ridgeland, SC that owes its origins to accepting the railroad for the advancement of their town. In the midst of this lush southern area, the Thomas Heyward Academy was founded. A small private school, they pride themselves on learning through hard work and good sportsmanship. The key sports focus for this school is basketball, with a better selection of players and teams than many of the larger schools.

In the heart of South Carolina there is a small community known as Langley. The people of this area are a close knit group, as any smaller town might be. South Carolina is known for its hospitality and friendly folk. This is, of course, the condition of Langley. But, in Langley, there is one big difference. You had better be a Midland Valley High School Mustangs fan, because in Langley, football reigns supreme.

When you think of Oklahoma, you have to think Oklahoma City and beautiful countryside. While Oklahoma City may be the largest city in Oklahoma and the state capital, it is also the home of Harvest Christian School. A small but vibrant private school, Harvest Christian School offers excellence in learning and sportsmanship. They do have a secret. They are crazy about basketball and no one has basketball spirit like Harvest Christian School.

Great Things Come From Lower Richland. That’s the school motto and it is ever so true. Lower Richland High School in Hopkins South Carolina is a PBIS School (Positive Behavioral Intervention Strategies) which means they focus on the whole student in supporting their learning and social skill development. In a time when people are busier than the hours of the day can hold, Lower Richland High School has given their fellow students a reason to be passionate about school and sports: baseball. Their Diamond baseball teams, in the rich black and gold colors create an excitement about the game. The attention is rightly deserved; the boy’s baseball team has achieved the Region V Championship for five years running.

Young Harris College is hot on baseball. To say that they have taken the nations sport to the next level is quite simply, an understatement. Young Harris College is known for excellence in learning, but, by far, they are also known for their Mountain Lions team.

If you are reading a local newspaper in the Buford Georgia area or listening to the local radio station, you may notice the incredible pride of the Buford High School football team. They are in the news everywhere and on every radio program. The Buford Wolves have attained their third straight state championship title and sixth in the 2000’s. If you take a look at the football scoreboards on this team, you will see winning numbers.

In Trenton Georgia, you had better be a fan of The Wolverines, because in this place – they rule! You won’t have any doubt, because everywhere you look you will find the maroon and gold colors of Dade County High School. This may be a small town, but there is nothing small about their attitude about sports and baseball. This is part of the Trenton way of life.

Ringgold High School is home of the Tigers, and they never let you forget it. Pride in sportsmanship and teamwork is a main motto at Ringgold High. A walk through the halls will show you right up front that this school offers a wide variety of academic and sports choices for the students. The welcoming southern charm should not fool you, because these people are serious about their basketball.
