As the NBA season heads into overtime in 2009, there are many young rookies who show that they promising young players. Often rookie seasons can make or break the career of an NBA star: fumble out of the gate and your minutes get cut and you get buried on the bench and cut. It adds up to a lot of pressure just as a rookie is already dealing with the increased speed and size of pro ball. Major League Baseball has teamed up with many international non profit organizations in its lifetime but perhaps none is quite as near to its heart as the ALS Association. ALS (Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis) is a devastating disease that is known more often as “Lou Gehrig’s Disease,” named for the Hall of Fame first baseman who was struck with this disease that cut short his storybook career in the major league of baseball.

When it comes to team sports, the state of Georgia is full of fans and athletes alike. Athletics in this state have advanced significantly, and many high schools and colleges here have installed new electronic scoreboards for a number of reasons. These include football, basketball, and baseball scoreboards, making Georgia a state which enjoys many team sports. Installing new equipment can offer a number of benefits for any school or athletic complex, and the initial cost is usually covered within the first few months after installation by increased attendance and revenues. Many different high schools and colleges in Georgia have made a big effort to increase the number of visitors and fans that attend sporting events, and upgrading the electronic equipment at the school is one of the best ways to accomplish this. Georgia has been home to many great teams and team sports achievements, and currently the state has a number of athletes and teams to be proud of. Taylor Schlopy, a softball player from the University of Georgia, has been selected to play for the US Softball Japan Cup Team. The Georgia Bulldogs have a great football team, and they have the opportunity to go far during the next season.

The 2008 baseball all star game was the last one to be held in Yankee Stadium. This version of the all stars baseball game was the 79th exhibition between the American and National leagues. The 2009 baseball all star game will commemorate the 80th exhibition to determine home field advantage for the World Series. In a closely fought game there were a couple of “dingers” that left some lucky fans all star game baseballs as souvenirs.

There are a number of teams in baseball that are still waiting to win their first World Series title. For some, they have visited the championship but not come away with the baseball World Series title. For others, they have never made it at all. For some teams it has been so long since their last World Series title that no one who is alive can remember it.

Team sports in Colorado have a very bright future, especially if the last year has been any indicator of future performance in many sports. One way to increase attendance at sporting events in the state for even bigger fan attendance in the future is to install a new electronic scoreboard. Eaton High School, in Eaton, Colorado, recently installed a Football Scoreboard 3535, and fan attendance has gone up since then. In the past year sports teams in Colorado have made many accomplishments, and the future for these teams and sports is very bright. Colorado College recently had an amazing comeback in the football game against Sewanee University. Player Jarrell Sweet gave the team the lead when there were only twenty six seconds left on the clock, and teammate Jeremiah Waters made a couple of free throws that finished it. The scoreboard lit up like crazy towards the end, and the fans went wild with joy.

The longest baseball game ever held measured by playing time in Major League history history covered two long days and stretched over 25 innings. It was outdone by 1 inning for the title of longest baseball game judged by number of innings. The longest playoff game in baseball history was a deciding game of the series that covered 18 innings.
