The American Amateur Baseball Congress (AABC)

This national amateur baseball association provides organized competition, at the elite level, for players 12 years old through young adulthood. It coordinates its program through related amateur baseball associations such as USA Baseball and American Baseball Coaches Association.

The AABC was founded in 1935 and developed a sound mission statement for developing its players:

“American Amateur Baseball Congress strives to enlarge and advance the scope of amateur baseball by stimulating interest and competition and to provide a sound, experienced organization to assist and educate local groups in obtaining the maximum health and citizenship values.”

They operate under an amateur baseball league format where each division consists of at least four teams that have to play at least six games. The winner of each division advances to state league play and if successful on to regional games and finally to the World Series.

Sandlott Amateur Baseball League

Sandlott Baseball is an amateur baseball league that offers elite players and teams the opportunity to compete with their peers at a high level. Teams are chosen each year from some of the strongest baseball programs in the United States and Canada to compete in the Sandlott Baseball league. The league is separated into seven divisions:

• Mid-America – southern Indiana, southern Ohio and northern Kentucky.
• Great Lakes – northern Ohio, eastern New York, eastern Canada, and western Pennsylvania.
• Mid-West – eastern Missouri, southern Illinois, and western Kentucky.
• New England – Connecticut, Massachusetts, New Jersey, and eastern New York.
• Southern – eastern Tennessee, northern Georgia, and northern Alabama.
• Northern – Michigan, northern Indiana, and northeastern Illinois.
• Canada

The Sandlott Super League puts together nationally ranked teams that draw a spotlight from other coaches and scouts. Super League games are announced to scouts and coaching staff in the area so that they can watch players they are interested in. This amateur baseball league was created to provide a competitive atmosphere for developing young players with talent. This is obvious from Sandlott’s mission statement which says their goal is “to create leagues and a program that challenges the talented player and assist that player to the next baseball level.”

American Legion – National Amateur Baseball League

In 1925, the American Legion established a national youth baseball association to help millions of ball players enjoy the game. Their goal is to teach players not only the fundamentals of the game but to instill in them the values that will make them good citizens. They stress the importance of teamwork, discipline, leadership, and sportsmanship while providing the player the opportunity to become fit and athletic.
