Each sport varies slightly from the next while maintaining similarities. There are similarities between football, baseball and basketball, speaking strictly from generalities such as competition between two teams. Football and basketball share a bit more with alternative methods of scoring and also having a secondary time clock to speed up a game. Baseball has a more closely related sport in Softball, where the rules remain very similar as do the methods of play. Earlier this month the Atlanta Braves inked a Chipper Jones contract that will most likely ensure that he accomplishes the rarest of feats in modern sport: to only play for one team his entire career. Chipper Jones career is likely to end in Atlanta after signing a $42 million three-year contract that has performance options that could extend into a fourth season and a total of $61 million. Jones would be 41 at the end of the contract if it does extend. The oldest active players in Major League Baseball are both 45 years old and are both pitchers.

Over the years sporting scoreboards have improved in many respects and one of the most significant improvements are the way the scores themselves are displayed. In very early versions of scoreboards the score of the game and other information was updated manually. This could have involved something as simple as a person updating the score on a large chalkboard, or changing score numbers that hung on a series of hooks that the fans could see. As technology improved, electronics made their way into these scoreboards and allowed the numbers to be updated remotely by an operator and were displayed to the fans as a series of incandescent light bulbs that were positioned to represent the digits. Even though these bulbs did a crude job of forming the digits, and were hard to see in bright sunlight, they were a huge improvement over the previous methods for updating the games details on the scoreboard.

Football Spirit of Patriots of J.L. Mann High School in Greenville, SC

The J.L. Mann High School Patriots of Greenville, South Carolina, are a football team that definitely has the right spirit. The school recently added a new electronic football scoreboard, manufactured by Electro-Mech, and a number of players on the team are listed as being available for college recruitment. The Patriots have a solid history of playing the game of football very well, and the last season just proved this point again. The Junior class has a number of players who perform very well on the field. Jamarius Burnside, Calvin Caldwell, Bobby Hunter, Markeese James, Pat Martin, Reuben Murray, and Cody Younce are all players who excel at the game, and who are being closely watched by a number of colleges. There is also Joshua Hill, who belongs to the freshman class, and who shows fantastic potential as a football player.
