Established in 1840, it was founded by Alexander Campbell who provided the land and funds for the first college building. They have five locations on the campus that are listed in the National Register of Historic Places. Bethany College has continued to demonstrate the highest quality of academic strengths with a balance of sports. They are a member of the Presidents’ Athletic Conference (PAC) and the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC). The graduates of Bethany College have carried the lessons learned throughout life. Bethany College has produced some of the finest professionals including sportscasters, authors and news anchors. And every player shows that distinction in the game they play. Tim Weaver, the Director of Athletics, runs a tight ship when it comes to college sports teams. The college works with the Green & White Club to offer both student encouragement and facility upgrades for their sports teams. This booster club takes their sports seriously and has true devotion to the school and teams.

In 2008, the Bison Stadium underwent an incredible transformation. They installation of FieldTurf and new lights offered the ability for the entire Bethany community to take advantage of the new facilities. In 2009, Bethany upgraded the Softball Diamond. New surface, backstop and fencing have given a wonderful facelift to the field and makes playing and observing a true joy.
