5 of the Most Hated Teams in the NFL Today

Every team in the NFL has its own fervent fan following, which is a great thing, but this is also reflected in the fact that fans can just as fervently hate other teams. This hatred can sprout from the actions of one of the teams’ players, or the teams’ collective personality, or simply out of envy. In this “” article, I will take a look at today’s top 5 and why they are disliked so much.

5 – Pittsburg Steelers – in the case of the Steelers, the hatred for the team arises from the fact that they are led by one of the most conscientiously corrupt and hated men in the NFL. Ben Roethlisberger has escaped 3 rape charges, and the fans are savvy enough to know that no man can have 3 rape allegations (even unproven!) against his name without him being a philanderer and a womanizer. The other contributor to the Steelers’ hatred is the fans’ envy; they have taken the Lombardi 6 times, so naturally fans of other teams envy them for their success.

4 – Philadelphia Eagles – the fact that the Eagles traded Donovan McNabb, one of the best QBs the team had ever had, to the Redskins for a pair of draft picks in 2010, didn’t warm the fans’ hearts at all. The next reason being that the Eagles (although, very noble in their intentions for giving Vick a second chance!) signed on an admitted and convicted dog killer/torturer i.e. Michael Vick – and this didn’t win them any brownie points with the fans either. The last reason being the Eagles’ fans themselves. GQ has termed the Phillies fans as the nastiest and the worst fans in the US.

3 – Dallas Cowboys – the foremost reason why fans hate the Cowboys is because they still call themselves America’s Team. They may have had characteristics that made ‘em worthy o’ the title, but those decades have long since passed. In the current decade, the fans can’t get past the Romo/Simpson episode and the insufferable and arrogant trio of Deion Sanders, Michael Irvin and Troy Aikman.

2 – New England Patriots – the Patriots personify the hatred that NFL fans (other than the Patriots’ fans, of course!) feel fueled from the teams’ ability to win games. They have been the best team in the NFL for the past 15 years and have become the envy of all NFL envy. This is largely resulting from the fact that most other fans can only dream of their team becoming as good as and as successful as the Patriots!

1 – New York Jets – nobody likes a proud boastful person, especially if that person does not have anything to be proud of in the first place. ‘Tis the story of the New York Jets. Rex Ryan, as the head coach, is always seen and heard claiming that his team is the best. What Rex Ryan really needs is a reality check and a change of profession.
