Jeremy Lin - The First American Asian To Play In The Nba Is Signed By The Warriors.

Jeremy Lin has become the newest Golden State Warrior, and in doing so has fulfilled his life-long dream.

On Wednesday afternoon, Jeremy completed the signing of a two-year contract with the Warriors. According to a variety of sources, he also received offers from the Lakers and from Dallas. Apparently, he even received a counter offer that was even greater than his Warrior’s deal. However, nothing could lure him away from a contract with the team he spent his childhood watching, which will also give him the opportunity to play in the town where his family live.

The Dallas manager Donnie Nelson had been interested in Lin for a long time. He wined and dined the player, and even had him over to his place for the Fourth of July celebrations. Lin explained that he was very thankful to Donnie for all his support, but that whilst the decision was tough, he could not pass on this opportunity provided by the warriors.

The first task for Lin and his AAU coach, J.Satter, is to work on his jumping and adapt to the NBA 3-point firing line. He also needs to develop his defensive skills.

Lin is 6 foot 3, and at the summer league he showed a considerable amount of athleticism, lighting up the with his shooting abilities. In addition, he has the skills to use his size on both ends of the court, but as yet no one knows how effective he will be in the NBA. He is however an aggressive player who has the ability and the vision to get to the basket, and in this respect is very NBA ready.

Lin considers himself a playmaker, who likes to attack the rim. He also thinks that he has a somewhat reckless style, and “tries to be everywhere at once.”

As the son of Taiwanese immigrants, Lin is the first Asian American-born player in NBA history. He is rarity in the NBA, and the large Asian fan base of the NBA is particularly excited about what he can achieve.

Unfortunately his race has worked against him in his basketball career so far. At Harvard, he was regularly subjected to racial abuse from opposing fans, and sometimes even by players. A couple of years back, he arrived at the Kezar Pavilion to play a match in the Pro-Am League. However, he was not allowed onto the court by a worker who told him that volleyball is over for the summer, and that its only basketball now.

Lin has been doubted and overlooked since he was a school kid. He was lightly recruited from high school and rejected by Pac-10 schools. The trend continued last month, as Lin was not even drafted.
Coming from Havard, Lin is made to feel even more different from his peers. As he said, there have not been many Asian Americans in the NBA, and there have not been many Ivy Leaguers either! His mission now is to break the stereotypes. Let’s hope we see his name on the next season.
