The Top 3 Most Weird Injuries In Mlb

In the latest article, I have looked at some of the more ridiculous injuries that MLB players have sustained.

Injuries are a part of every sport, no matter what the degree of physical exertion required. However, it seems that for a player to get injured, they do not necessarily need to be playing a particularly physical game, or in some cases they do not need to be playing at all to get injured. In some cases, as you will see, getting injured and missing a game are not mutually inclusive. Without further ado, here are the 3 “baseball scoreboards” most freakish and weird injuries that a MLB player has sustained and missed a game as a result.

1 – Marty Cordova, Baltimore Orioles – Ask a woman what she wants to do over the weekend in the middle of a dark winter, and 3 out of 5 times the answer will be “go to a tanning salon”. Ask a baseball player what he wants to do over the weekend; 9 out of 10 times the answer will be “kick the other team’s butt”. It’s 9 out of 10 because Marty Cordova would have said “go to a tanning salon”, and that is exactly where he sustained his “injury” that made him miss a game. Apparently, Cordova had fallen asleep under the tanning lamps causing minor but serious burns on his face due to which his doc ordered him to stay out of direct sunlight. So, naturally, he couldn’t play the next game; unless of course it was during the night, which it wasn’t!

2 – Adam Eaton, San Diego Padres – Although not as freakish as Mart Cordova’s injury, Adam Eaton managed to sustain an injury that was extremely bizarre and, well, gruesome! When Eaton put himself on the injured list, he was still playing for the San Diego Padres in June 2001. Turns out Eaton desperately wanted to unwrap a newly bought DVD but, it just wouldn’t budge! That is why he brought in the big guns, and his big gun turned out to be a paring knife. You can probably guess what happened next! Yes, he accidently stabbed himself with the knife in the stomach.

3 – Mat Latos, San Diego Padres – Seems like the Padres are home to the most goofy, not to mention self inflicted, injuries. Last year, Pitcher Mat Latos did a Sammy Sosa. Of all the things he could injure himself with; he managed to do it with the least threatening thing on the face of the earth: a sneeze! It happened while he was coming out of the dugout; he tried to hold back his sneeze, which resulted in such a severe spasm that he strained his left side. The deadly sneeze placed him on the injured list for 15 days!
