The Top 5 Midfielders Left In The Uefa Champions League

We are now in the knockout stage of the UEFA Champions League, where each tie consists of two legs with one home game for each team. As we are in the round of 16 of the UEFA Champions League. In a feature, I have taken a look at the best midfielders left in the league:

5. Theo Walcott and Andrei Arshavin

There are players who are not that great midfielders on their own, but when they pair up with another midfielder they make a deadly combination. This is the case for Arsenal’s Walcott and Arshavin. Walcott started off the season incredibly well and is arguably having his best season ever with 7 goals already to his name in the league. The soccer scoreboards show that Arshavin joined the gunners in January 2009 and since then has been one of the key players for the team. His impact is evident from the fact that the gunners have not lost a single match out of the 13 matches Arshavin has played in (as of February).

4.Bastian Schweinsteiger and Franck Ribery

Ribery and Schweinsteiger have emerged as one of the best midfielder pairings in Europe. These
two players were the principal reason why Bayern Munich reached the final of the Champions
League. These two not only score a lot of goals for the team but are excellent at creating them. This
midfield duo are a scary prospect for all the teams in the league, and no one will relish going up against them.

3.Wesley Sneijder

Sneijder has been the best player for Inter Milan since he joined the team in the summer of
2009. His first season with Inter was outstanding, although he scored only 3 goals. His most important goal was against Barcelona in the first leg of the semifinal. He has the ability to score from distance and deliver inch perfect passes to his grateful attackers.

2.Cesc Fabregas

The captain of Arsenal is the motivating and driving force for the team. He is an extremely skillful midfielder, and without him Arsenal are lacking. He is playing at the top of his game this season, and has been showing of his world beating passing ability. If he can perform at the right time, maybe this could finally be Arsenal’s season.

1.Andres Iniesta and Xavi

Undoubtedly this is the best midfield duo in the world. They have played together for their national
team, Spain and helped them win the FIFA World Cup. Now they play together for Barcelona
and are a nightmare for any team. They almost never lose the ball, and they control the flow of the game which can be of great frustration to the other team. They are inseparable, unstoppable and extremely talented midfielders. Perhaps this won’t be Arsenal’s year after all!
