At just 48 minutes of game time, the NBA basketball game is the shortest of all the major sports with a game clock that theoretically does not stop. Of course, it does stop quite a bit for fouls, timeouts, commercials and quarter breaks and it can have overtime periods if the score remains tied at the end of the game.
