18 Days And 4 El Clasicos!

Every football fan is eagerly waiting for these 4 matches that will be played between the two greatest club rivals in the soccer world, Barcelona and Real Madrid. These two teams have given a lot to the game of football and contain many of the world’s best players in their respective teams. When these two teams come out to play its not only the players who are playing against each other: the managers and the fans are play against each other too. It’s a psychological battle between everyone in the stadium, and its 90 minutes of pure footballing heaven.

The first El Classico will be played on 16th April, 2011 which is a La Liga match. The soccer scoreboards will show that Real Madrid will be playing on their home ground and will do everything possible to win the match, as they need victory to stand a chance of catching Barcelona in the league. The 2nd match will be the Copa del Rey final which will be played on 20th April, 2011 in the Estadio Mestalla stadium in Valencia, Spain where both the teams will be eying up the trophy. The 3rd and 4th El Clasicos’ will be the 1st and 2nd leg of the semi finals of the UEFA Champions League on 27th April and 3rd May respectively.

There is a lot to look forward to in these 4 El Clasicos’. Jose Mourinho and his men will look to take revenge after the match that took place in November 2010 when Pep Guardiola’s men crushed Real Madrid 5-0, a defeat Real’s fans will not easily be able to forget. Real Madrid will desperate to beat Barcelona especially in the semi-finals on the Champions League, a competition that Barcelona has semi-dominated in recent years. Moreover, these 4 El Claisco’s will also give us a taste of the Ronaldo-Messi rivalry and we will have ample time to assess who is the best, and to end the debate once and for all! (I know! This is easier said than done).

History and Internet poll results have indicated that Messi clearly has an edge over Ronaldo, however the stats also show that Messi has never scored against a Mourinho led team. This is not the record you would associate with a player like Messi and he will certainly look be changing this in at least 1 one of the four El Clasicos’.

This visual treat awaits all football fans around the globe over the next month. No one is overstated the importance of the games: Barcelona is currently the out-and-out world number one team, but shifts of power can happen quickly (witness Real Madrid’s unexpected victory over Manchester United in 2000, and the subsequent rapid shift of power to the Spanish team). If the results go Real’s way, particularly in the Champions league, then Barcelona’s dominance at the top may well come to an end.
