The Five Most Extravagant NFL Touchdown Celebrations Ever

have become one of the most popular parts of pro football, although the NFL has outlawed some types of celebrations that belittle opponents or create safety issues. The following funny football moments are listed in ascending order, with the most extravagant one listed last at number one. A video is included at the end of each description

Touchdowns are unarguably the highlight of any football game. There’s nothing like seeing the expression of our favorite players on the big electronic football scoreboards as they celebrate. These are a few of the most extravagant celebrations ever.

Celebration #5: Made in Canada
The Canadian Football League produced this zany celebration in September 2008. During the Winnipeg Blue Bombers’ 25-23 win over the Hamilton Tiger-Cars in Ontario, Winnipeg’s Kevin Glenn hit receiver Terrence Edwards with a 19-yard touchdown pass. Edwards called in four of his teammates to help him celebrate. The five players reenacted the children’s game duck-duck-goose to the delight of the television audience. Edwards played his college football at the University of Georgia, and the former Bulldog orchestrated quite a production in the end zone.

Celebration #4: The Lambeau Leap
In December 1993 the Green Bay Packers had a key game at home against the Los Angeles Raiders in their quest to reach the playoffs for the first time since 1982. All Pro defensive lineman Reggie White scooped up a fumble and latereled it to defensive back Leroy Butler, who took it in for a touchdown. Butler continued on through the end zone and leaped up on the wall in front of the stands, landing in the arms of cheering Green Bay fans. A favorite Packers tradition had been born. This video shows a Lambeau Leap by wide receiver Ruvell Martin in a 2007 game against Minnesota.

Celebration #3: Moss’s Mooning
At Lambeau Field, Packers fans have a tradition of mooning the visiting team’s bus after the game. While a member of Minnesota Vikings in 2005, Randy Moss decided to turn the tables on the Green Bay faithful. In the fourth quarter of a 31-17 Vikings victory, Moss scored on a touchdown reception, ran to the back of the end zone, and pantomimed mooning the fans in the end zone. Moss’s act is shown as the #7 highlight on the following video from ESPN’s SportsCenter.

Celebration #2: T.O.’s Pompons
Terrell Owens is one of the best-known practitioners of the end-zone celebration. Now a Buffalo Bill, he previously plied his trade for San Francisco, Philadelphia, and Dallas. His touchdown celebrations have included pulling a marker from his sock and autographing the ball, doing sit-ups, mocking the touchdown dance of the Baltimore Ravens’ Ray Lewis, tearing down hostile signs in visiting stadiums, and borrowing pompons from a cheerleader to cheer himself on. Owens’s cheerleading is shown as the #3 highlight on the following video from ESPN’s SportsCenter.

Celebration #1: Chad Johnson, aka Ocho Cinco, as Tiger Woods
Arguably the best known of the NFL touchdown celebrants is Chad Johnson, who changed his last name to Ocho Cinco to commemorate his uniform number, 85. Chad and his archrival on the celebrations stage, Terrell Owens, are both willing to pay stiff fines from the NFL for their antics after touchdowns. Ocho Cinco’s celebrations have included imitating a Riverdance number, pretending to propose marriage to a cheerleader, and using an end-zone pylon as a putter to stroke the football. The putting episode is included as the #4 highlight on the following video from ESPN’s SportsCenter.
