The MVP Candidates for this Season

The Mvp Candidates For This Season

Although the season hasn’t ended yet, there is already a clear shortlist of players who are in the race to receive the MVP for their performances. Here are the top five candidates:

5. Manu Ginobilli
Manu plays as a shooting guard for the San Antonio Spurs. He is one of the key players of the team and has played a very important role in the team’s success so far. He has earned three NBA rings and now is a probable choice for the MVP this season. He has some fantastic team mates like Tony Parker and Tim Duncan, but with players like these he has still managed to maintain the best scoring record in the team. The basketball scoreboards show that he has scored an average of 18.4 points per game.

4. Amare Stoudemire
Everyone thought that he was given an over-generous contract when he was signed by the New York Knicks in 2010. However the deal has paid off and noone now doubts his worth. Amare has been playing so well that it is in large part due to him that the team has got into the playoffs for the first time since 2004. He is currently averaging 26.2 points per game, 8.6 rebounds per game and 2.2 blocks per game. He has set a Knicks franchise record by scoring 9 consecutive 30 points in December. Since then he has been unstoppable and is a strong contender for the MVP.

3. Dirk Nowitzki
Dirk Nowitzki is the main man behind Dallas Mavericks’ success this season. He has been playing extremely well and has led his team to the second best record in the West. Currently he is averaging 23.2 points per game and 6.9 rebounds per game. His absence makes a great difference to the team as the Mavericks have lost 8 out of 10 games in which Dirk hasn’t played, and this really says a lot about his value to the team. Caron Butler’s injury has meant that Dirk has had to play even better to make up for his absence, and his chances of getting the MVP are better than ever.

2. LeBron James
Miami Heat has a formidable group of great players including Wade, Bosh and James. Out of this list of stars, however, Lebron James has emerged as the key player for the team this season. He performed to the level expected of him after facing a huge amount of criticism after his transfer. He came out of that strongly and showed everyone that he truly is one of the best, if not the best. Currently he is averaging 26.4 points per game, 7.3 assist per game and 7.3 rebounds per game.

1. Derrick Rose
Rose is everybody’s favorite for the MVP. He is having a terrific season and has led the Bulls to where they are now despite injuries to key players of the team. Currently he is averaging 24.6 points per game, 8.2 assists per game and 4.6 rebounds per game. His defense and three point shooting have improved a lot since last season and he is a big favourite amongst the NBA fans. It is very likely that he will win the MVP this year.
